Well. It’s probably time to actually post something on here…

So.ย We are over a week into our year-long adventure and there’s been no posts here yet. Somehow, I suspect they will not post themselves. As such, here I am making a slap-dash effort to get the first post of the year up before I disappear off to bed for another day.

What news so far? Well, we arrived safely (if you hadn’t managed to establish that yet). The obligatory Bloody Mary was consumed at the LAX airport… It may have been at an ungodly hour for the natives, but I’m sure it was a reasonable hour somewhere. After that it was off to Atlanta, Georgia. Situation uneventful.

it has tomato in it, that makes it a breakfast beverage, yes?

We have settled in to our new routine and haven’t exactly been up to much, just in and out of the office. It did however snow one morning. If you can call the misty drift snow… Most of it melted by the time it hit the ground, but it was still wonderful to see. It made for a colder morning than I’d like, but the afternoon was all sunshine and tweety birds. Who’d believe it snowed in the morning?

there is totally snow on that.

i have photographic evidence: there is totally snow on that.

As an aside: Where are the squirrels, dammit? Squirrels, come at me! It must still be too cold to venture out of their nests. In Atlanta thus far, only one squirrel butt spotted. Bring on the warmer weather!

Our only outing thus far has been to Asheville, North Carolina over the weekend. Pretty town boasting the very large Biltmore mansion and some very nice breweries (we may have spent some quality time at a couple). In particular, Wicked Weed brewery now ranks quite highly in my estimation – their “Funkatorium” selection of sour beer was simply amazing. If we didn’t have to leave, I probably wouldn’t have. We also wandered the streets and caught a strange but memorable comedic bus tour of the town, where the staff regale their customers with ghost tales from the Asheville locale. A bit iffy on the content, but funny nonetheless. I laughed. Other people laughed. I call that a win. After that it was more exploration of the night life as it is in Asheville. We met some very interesting characters and interesting times were had. I won’t elaborate on the following day. Let’s just say I may haveย required some R&R, and a good portion of the day was spend enjoying the beautiful scenery on the drive home.

Ok, I suspect it is high time I wandered off to bed. At least I’ve made a start!
